BRIEF HISTORY ON FEDMAT SCHOOLS, IBADAN
FEDMAT International Nursery and Primary School started her journey on January 5, 2004. We started with the Vision of “ …bringing each child to the fulfillment of his or her ability in the context of a Caring, Conducive and Happy School Environment. We encourage and expect respect for every child and aim for the highest possible standard in teaching, learning and achievement.â€
Our Mission is to ensure that children at FEDMAT have a firm and confident grasp of the basic educational tools before moving to secondary school. The School was structured into Crèche, Kindergarten and Primary Sections.
The School started the Crèche with three babies. These are Roberts, Adelekan Armstrong, Ademola, Ramat Temitope and Okunade, Michael Ayotunde at No. 4, Road 3A, Moyede Anifalaje, Akobo, Ibadan. We thank God for the opportunity to nurture and build these young minds. To the glory of God, two of these babies are in Universities, while the third one is in SS3, rounding up his secondary education. About ten sets of students have passed out and secure admission into various secondary schools in and outside Nigeria.
The Nursery and Primary School has also grown from staff strength of a head teacher and two care-givers to one head teacher, twenty-five academic staff, five administrative and account Staff and four office assistants, five drivers and one security guard. Realizing the importance of staff training and development, we have been consistent in organizing yearly training and workshop for our staff since 2007.
We thank God for the journey so far. God has been faithful unto us. He has increased us spiritually, numerically, academically, morally and financially. The School is presently on her permanent site at No. 1 and 2, Adeyemo Crescent, Isokan Estate, Akobo-Ojurin, Along Olorunda-Abaa Road, Ibadan.
FEDMAT COLLEGE, IBADAN
Ten years after, (August, 2014), we started the secondary school arm – FEDMAT College, Ibadan on our permanent site at No. 4/6, Road 1, Delight Estate, Idi-Ape, Along Olorunda-Abaa Road, Akobo, Ibadan. The College started with 26 students (Grade 7 – 18 and Grade 8 - 8)
To the glory of God, the College has graduated three sets of students and all of them are now in the University studying different courses of their choice.
In this great citadel of learning, we understand and respect that each child is unique and has different abilities and interests; therefore, our curriculum objective have been designed to nurture them with the following:
Teaching them English using phonics in structured manner.
- Mathematical concepts are taken in a simple and tangible manner
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World are given through Excursion and Quiz
- Social and Moral Development are given top priority so that each child will grow into a responsible and confident adult as a result of building a strong sense of self image.
- Children are taught and encouraged to listen and respect others’ views and opinion. They are taught to differentiate between good and bad. To be aware of rules and positive discipline.
We also work tirelessly to bring out the best out of each child so that they can be good citizen that God want them to be.
I also want to report that we have fared very well among our peers in the last fifteen years. We have participated in States and National Competitions and have won prizes and laurels. For instance, our School came second in the 2011 Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs Essay Competition organized to mark the year’s Children Day Anniversary. We also came second and first in the 2012 and 2013 editions of the Spelling Bee competition organized by the Future Beyond Imagination Children Development Initiative in conjunction with World Children Price Foundation.
We have also had five Biennial Inter-house Sports and Athletic Competitions and participated in other Schools Invitational Relay Competitions and won prizes.
In the area of Social Responsibilities, we have been making our marks. Our School organizes yearly Medical Tests and Treatment since Year 2011, not only for our parents but also to friends of the School and our neighbours. We also partner with a number of orphanages to assist in reducing the plights of the disadvantaged children.
We give God Almighty all the glory for His divine grace and mercy throughout the past years. His hand has been evident in all our activities and has assisted us to accumulate good success on all sides.
Thank you.
